The Tangier American Legation Located at 8 rue d’Amerique, Tangier. Morocco was the first nation to recognize the United States in 1776, and this building was purchased in 1821 and is the oldest American overseas legation. There are various documents housed in this museum, which retrace the history of the relations between Morocco and the United States. There are ancient doors, maps, paintings and furniture on display. The museum is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 1pm and from 3pm to 5pm.
